MA in Intercultural German Studies at Two Universities
The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Waterloo seeks excellent students to join the unique Joint MA program in Intercultural German Studies: two universities, one degree, multiple opportunities. The program is fully funded and includes one year of study at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and one year at the University of Mannheim, Germany. Students obtain a combined joint degree from the two universities.
Funding
Students receive scholarships and teaching/research assistantships covering tuition, travel, and living expenses at Waterloo and in Mannheim. Typical assistantship duties involve classroom and online teaching as well providing research support to faculty members. Students may also apply for additional scholarships.
Program of study
The MA in Intercultural German Studies includes coursework in the areas of German literature and culture, media, Applied Linguistics and teaching German as a Foreign Language. Workshops and milestones acquaint students with skills that can be put to use both inside and outside the academic setting. Students also have the opportunity to complete the Certificate in University Language Teaching at the University of Waterloo.
