Update CSSG: Official Cancellation of the Canadian Summer School in Germany (CSSG)

Please note the following message from John Plews, Director of the Canadian Summer School in Germany (CSSG):

It is with sadness that I must inform you of the official cancellation of the Canadian Summer School in Germany (CSSG) which was scheduled to be delivered in Kassel, Germany, from May 3 to June 20, 2020. All students who had been accepted into the program this year have been notified of this decision.

In making its decision, Saint Mary’s University and the CSSG Director considered a variety of risk factors. The University’s decisions about the safety of travelers are made with reference to the Country travel advice and advisories issued by the Government of Canada. As of March 12, 2020, the following notice is issued by the Canadian Government for Germany:

Public Health Agency of CanadaTravel Health Notice of Level 1“Practice usual precautions.” Normally, the University would support travel by students to Level 1 areas. However, given the fast-evolving situation of COVID-19 in Europe and worldwide, the decision to restrict all student travel through June 2020 was made in conjunction with the assessment of World Health Organization which rates the risk at the global level to be Very High. In the interest of the health and well-being of all participants, the University confirmed today (March 13, 2020) the CSSG Program was cancelled.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
