Grimm Lecture 2020 Online

This coming Thursday the Waterloo Centre for German Studies was expecting a full house to attend the 2020 Grimm Lecture. Samantha Rose Hill, Assistant Director of the Hannah Arendt Centre for Politics and Humanities at Bard College, was to give a talk entitled “Thinking Itself Is Dangerous: Reading Hannah Arendt Now.” The coronavirus pandemic has prevented this lecture from going ahead.

Or has it? We’ve arranged to have Dr. Hill give the lecture from the comfort and safety of her home via the magic of livestreaming! And because the lecture has now moved online, anyone with an internet connection can join us.

Here are the details:

When: Thursday, 19 March 2020, 7pm EDT (i.e. Toronto time)

To watch via Facebook, go tohttps://www.facebook.com/WaterlooCentreForGermanStudies/

To watch via YouTube, go tohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqVmqIBx5A0 (new link as of 6pm, 17 March 2020)

Dr. Hill’s lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer segment. You will be able to post questions during the talk, which we will then put to Dr. Hill live.

If you’d like to learn more about the lecture and Dr. Hill, or avail yourself of some readings and other media on Arendt, you can check out our reading list below.

We will also be posting a copy of the recording on the University of Waterloo’s YouTube channel; information about that will be distributed once it is online.

If you have any questions, please contact us at wcgs@uwaterloo.ca

We hope you’ll be able to join us from wherever you are. In the meantime, best wishes to you all in these strange and trying times.

Sincerely,

Misty Matthews-Roper, Administrative Assistant

James Skidmore, Director
