Job Posting: Contractual Appointment in German at Memorial U

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for an 8 month teaching term contractual appointment beginning 1 September 2017 and ending 30 April 2018, subject to budgetary approval and sufficient enrolments.  Applicants must be fluent in English and German, have a broad background in German Language, Literature, and Culture, and possess a PhD or be ABD.  The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced German language classes, as well as a German culture course.  The teaching load is six courses across the period of appointment, distributed as a 3/3 load in the Fall 2017 and Winter 2018 semesters.  The successful candidate is expected to maintain an excellent record of teaching.

Applications should be sent via email to languages@mun.ca by March 24, 2017 in the following order:  cover letter, CV, statement of teaching strengths and interests, course outlines, and teaching evaluations.  In addition, applicants should arrange to have 3 confidential letters of reference addressed to Dr. Phillippe Basabose, Head of Department.  Referees are asked to submit their signed letters of reference by the same deadline via email to languages@mun.ca with the applicant’s name in the subject line.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
